Formerly known as HideMyAss VPN, HMA is one of the leading VPN providers with a growing customer base worldwide. Developed in 2005 by Jack Cator, an English computer programmer, HMA is headquartered in Norfolk, UK.

It is a free, open-source VPN that helps users hide their IP address, bypass geoblocked streaming sites, protect their online activities and more. Today, there are many VPNs on the market, competing for users around the world. By 2014, HMA has 10 million users worldwide, of which more than 215,000 have opted for various subscription plans.

In 2015, it became one of the world’s leading VPN providers by acquiring AVG Technologies, a subsidiary of Avast Software s.r.o, a Prague-based cybersecurity development company. With more than 1,000 servers in over 290 locations, HMA is proving to be a force to be reckoned with in the industry.

In addition to this, there are other unique features that make this VPN an exceptional product. In this article, we’ll put them all in context. You’re probably wondering whether to choose this VPN or not. Don’t worry, we’ll help you make an informed decision after introducing you to the essential features of the HMA. Plus, you’ll learn more about its security, speed, customer service, logging policy, unlocking capabilities and more.

HideMyAss VPN Key Features

HideMyAss VPN provides a large number of servers (more than 1000) that are spread over 160 sites around the world. HMA offers 5 simultaneous connections and 24/7 live chat support.

Recently, HMA developers have considerably increased the speed. Due to the multitude of servers, we recommend HideMyAss VPN to users, who need access to many local servers in one country or access to the server in the country where only that provider is served.

Server Network

HideMyAss VPN is truly positioning itself as the VPN of the future, with endless advances to deploy more and more VPN servers. Today, it has more than 1,000 servers deployed in 290 locations worldwide, with over 71,000 IP addresses. In North America, the United States leads the way with a total of 180 servers (953 IPs). The United States is closely followed by Canada with 24 servers (133 IPs), while Mexico has 6 servers (18 IPs).

The next step is Europe, where France leads with 49 servers (276 IPs), Germany with 24 servers (107 IPs) and the United Kingdom with 19 servers (126 IPs). In South America, HMA has its servers in 20 countries on the continent, each with 2 servers. However, Brazil is the country with the highest number of IPs with 15 servers.

In Asia-Pacific, Australia has 39 servers (212 IPs), Singapore 21 servers (132 IPs), South Korea 10 servers (61 IPs) and New Zealand 7 servers (35 IPs). At the center, Israel has 4 servers (24 IPs) while in Africa, South Africa leads with 21 servers (147 IPs).

In short, the importance for a VPN provider to have a wide distribution of servers cannot be overemphasized – a concept that the HMA VPN has integrated. Here’s the problem: a VPN provider with a wide distribution of servers offers better services than those without. When a VPN covers every corner of the world, its globally dispersed subscribers experience less congestion when using its servers.

In addition, the provider with more servers will have better speed because it will have unlimited bandwidth. In other words, a VPN provider with only a few servers may have to slow down some users just to allow all users to access its service simultaneously.

This is not the whole point of having a wide distribution of servers. It should be noted that your actual location will always affect your speed every time you access a VPN server. You probably didn’t know this, but that’s how the cookie crumbles.

Technically, the closer you are to a VPN server, the better the speed of your network. That’s why it’s advisable to choose a VPN with a network of servers rather than those that are still dragging their feet in the circus of server distribution.

Security & Privacy

Many people subscribe to the VPN because they need to keep their activities on the Internet safe, anonymous and confidential. In this segment, we’ll look at the steps the HMA takes to protect its users.

  • Kill Switch

One of the security features you get with the HMA is an “Internet Kill Switch”. You probably know that this is a feature that acts as a server for your traffic when the VPN drops for no reason. In other words, it ensures that your personal information and data does not leak out whenever the VPN is interrupted. Specifically, it ensures that your IP address and location are not exposed.

When this feature is activated, you can be sure that your privacy and security are guaranteed. This is an important privacy protection measure for privacy-conscious HMA users. Although all VPN companies promise 100% uptime, you cannot exclude the possibility that a VPN may experience a technical problem.

However, the “Internet Kill Switch” ensures that ISPs and other prying eyes do not see your online activities. The intelligent HMA Kill Switch application is available for Windows, macOS and Android.

  • Encryption protocol

The HMA uses the 256-bit data encryption type of the Advanced Encryption Standard. Known as “military-grade encryption”, 256-bit AES encryption is an industry standard because it is difficult to decipher. With this technology, you can be sure you are fully protected every time you go online.

We should also mention that the UK-based VPN uses RSA-4096 handshake encryption and SHA-256. As far as its protocols are concerned, the HMA protocol allows your device to communicate with the VPN securely.

That said, HMA gives users the rare ability to choose from 4 different VPN protocols. These are OpenVPN (UDP, also known as Autopath), OpenVPN TCP, PPTP and L2TP. For the most part, PPTP is recommended for Windows and macOS, while LT2P is used to create a manual connection.

Overall, while OpenVPN-based connections require a client installation, the rest of the VPN protocols simply require the user to configure it in the device or operating system. If you do not use the correct VPN protocol in HMA, you will experience problems such as slow speed, unstable connection, intermittent connection failure, etc.

  • Split tunneling

Of course, HMA offers “split tunneling”. Basically, split tunneling allows you to decide which applications should be tunneled by the VPN or by your local ISP. By doing so, you get almost two things: Increase your network speed and enhance your online security. Fractional tunneling allows you not to completely snub your local network provider, as some applications may depend on it for direct Internet access.

You can specify different server locations for each of the applications running on your device. On HMA, split tunneling is available in Windows, Mac, Android and iOS clients. To enable split tunneling, you can easily disable the HMA service on certain sites or applications. This is one of the key features that many VPN users look for in their ideal VPN.

  • Leak protection

In the past, the HMA has fought against WebRTC leaks, but not anymore. But what is this leak protection in the first place? Basically, leak protection is another measure used in the industry to keep your identity hidden. WebRTC stands for Web Real-Time Communication. It is a web-based technology that allows real-time sharing of voice, video chat and P2P. It does not require a browser extension.

The essence of the test is to determine if your IP address (and your data in general) is leak. If the data is leaking, it means it could end up in the hands of prying eyes. In general, a website can obtain information about you by using WebRTC’s STUN requests. If they are able to obtain this information, you have absolutely nothing to hide.

We have therefore used web tools to perform these tests. In the end, the test was positive, showing that the HMA has no WebRTC leaks for IPv4 and IPv6. The good thing is that you can check these results independently using relevant web tools. Feel free to give it a try yourself.

  • Wi-Fi protection

Accessing a public Wi-Fi network is as easy as ABC these days. You see it in cafes, shopping malls, airport lounges, hotels, etc. Your smartphone can definitely detect these Wi-Fi hotspots and connect to them because it’s always free under certain conditions.

Just before you connect and use a Wi-Fi hotspot, you need HMA Wi-Fi protection, as this is one of the security features you get when accessing the Internet from an HMA server. You need Wi-Fi HMA protection because hackers take the opportunity to steal from unsuspecting users.

In fact, you are vulnerable when you share such a Wi-Fi facility with them, because cybercriminals typically lurk on them, looking for unsuspecting Internet users to steal from. They steal your private, personal and financial information.

Most often, they imitate the names of networks such as McDonald’s or Starbuck’s Wi-Fi to trick unlucky users. But the good news is that HMA offers its users Wi-Fi protection. With HMA, you don’t have to think twice before logging in to your bank details, shopping online, logging in to your social media accounts, and so on.

  • TOR compatibility

To enhance user security, HMA is now compatible with TOR networks. In case you don’t know, TOR stands for The Onion Router. Well, TOR is another network that allows users to access the Internet securely via its encrypted web browser. Thus, you can connect the HMA and TOR network to enhance your online security when accessing the Internet.

In the past, it was virtually impossible to connect the two networks together. Today, things have changed. But you have to be willing to sacrifice some of your speed to enjoy the world-class security that both networks offer. When we tried it, we encountered some difficulties. However, it collapsed within seconds. The combination of HMA and TOR creates an unbreakable war of defense against eavesdropping and other prying eyes.

Logging Policy

One of the factors that define VPNs is the login and privacy policy. You need to be sure that the brains behind your VPN are trustworthy. Just before choosing your ideal VPN, it is essential to thoroughly review its logging policy. By definition, a logging policy specifies what the provider does with its subscribers’ personal information. We’ll look at it from two main angles:

  • Policy details

In the “Policy Details” section, we sift through the policies that the company has adopted to protect its users from prying eyes. If you have never used the VPN service before, it should matter to you what a VPN provider does with your personal information because some of them are involved in certain illegal activities. There is no doubt that these unscrupulous activities may affect your personal security.

For example, some of them sell your personal information to third party companies. Of course, this is a common practice worldwide. They usually do so because they use the proceeds from these transactions to maintain their IT infrastructure and meet other financial obligations.

Based on our findings, they often collect data such as your name, email address, physical addresses, payment details, IP addresses, etc., which is then used to process your transactions. While many of them admit that they collect personal information about users, it is clear that many others do not. Therefore, you should always choose a provider that has a “zero log” policy.

  • Location

In addition to the details of a provider’s privacy policy, you need to know their physical location. You see, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain and Sweden all have something in common. They collectively belong to a secret organization known as the Alliance of 14 Eyes.

It is essentially a global network that mandates all member countries to collect information about Internet users in their jurisdiction and share it with others. Specifically, if a member country is able to get its hands on your personal information, that information will be shared among its members worldwide. If your provider is based in one of these countries, you have good reason to be concerned that the government may be spying on your online activities.

Getting Started with HideMyAss

HideMyAss VPN has made it clear that it logs users’ IP addresses. It does not stop there, it also collects connection time and the amount of data a user consumes (bandwidth). This is clearly a red flag! It’s not difficult for law enforcement to use arrest warrants to get their hands on and access the server of VPN companies.

Just before you subscribe to a VPN that collects such information, you should think twice. This can easily compromise the information. We have already discussed in detail what some VPN providers do with users’ private information when they collect logs.

Digging deeper into the HMA archives, it is interesting to note that the HMA did not start with a clean slate. In 2011, the HMA provided vital information to the FBI to facilitate the arrest and prosecution of a suspect. Cody Kretsinger was arrested, prosecuted and imprisoned for hacking into the Sony Pictures website – thanks to HMA. She admitted using SQL injection to hack the site, believing that HMA would protect her identity.

While we do not encourage any form of criminality, we need to establish here that HMA let Cody down when it needed the service the most. It should be remembered that the hacker used HMA to conceal his IP address. If security is more important to you than anything else, you should always keep this incident in mind because it goes against everything HMA claims to stand for.

Finally, we have already focused on the 14-Eyes Alliance. As you can see, the HMA is located in the United Kingdom, which is a member of the Five Eyes Alliance. Again, that’s another thing that goes against this NPV. In other words, the HMA might not be at the top of your priority list if you’re concerned about security. No one is sure what it’s doing with your data because its history has shown that it works with law enforcement.

To be clear, the HMA will not cover up your illegal online activities if that is your primary goal in seeking a VPN. Although the HMA maintains a registry of user information, the HMA will instantly share this information with the appropriate government authorities when requested through warrants and court orders. But if you have to make do with this VPN for other benefits, you should pay attention to your online activities.

HideMyAss VPN Speed

Server LocationDownload SpeedUpload Speed
New York59 Mbps30 Mbps
Amsterdam63 Mbps50 Mbps
London64 Mbps43 Mbps
Hong Kong19 Mbps13 Mbps

Next, we need to assess how good or otherwise the HMA is on the speed front. In fact, the speed of a VPN is another factor to consider in your ideal VPN. The reason is that you need speed to do everything online. In our usual tradition of using 4 sites for speed testing, we have done the same thing with HMA. These servers are located in New York, Amsterdam, London and Hong Kong. At the end of the series of tests, we noted the speed results. We compiled our results for you to see. However, we will discuss them briefly.

As always, we started the speed test with the server in New York. The server performed impressively with a download speed of 59 Mbps while the upload speed was 30 Mbps. In truth, these results are simply superb, to say the least, because you can count on it to do everything you want to do online.

So we did the same test on the Amsterdam server with the same parameters. As you’d expect, the Amsterdam server had a much higher download speed than the New York server, as we recorded 63 Mbps. On the other hand, its upload speed soared to 50 Mbps when we ran the test. These results are superb, as they give users a very good experience when accessing the Internet from Amsterdam.

We were ambivalent when we did the speed test on the next server. Yes, the server is hosted in another European city, London. Unexpectedly, we saw a massive improvement in speed. As the table shows, we recorded 62 Mbps and 45 Mbps in download and upload speeds respectively. In fact, the HMA speeds are the best we’ve seen so far.

Finally, we tested the server in Hong Kong. According to our previous results, the Chinese city still shows very poor performance in terms of speed. As always, we were right about the server in Hong Kong, as the download speed was 19 Mbps and the upload speed was stable at 13 Mbps. For some reason, Hong Kong servers don’t always have amazing speeds. And when we tested the HMA server in Hong Kong, the results were not so good.

  • Speed summary

In summary, we should note that these are real-world test results. So you can take the numbers we gave you at the bank. From our speed results, we can deduce that HMA really has amazing speed. Obviously, the server speeds recorded in New York, London and Amsterdam were impressive.

At the bottom of the scale was the server in Hong Kong, which became normal every time we ran speed tests. Looking at the average speed of the 4 cities we sampled, the average download speed was 51.25 Mbps while the average upload speed was 34 Mbps.

Everything indicates that HMA speed is fascinating. In fact, it can rival the speeds of any high-performance VPN on the market. With this impressive speed, downloading, streaming, sending, video and voice calls, etc. will certainly become more fun and attractive. That’s simply because all these online activities require high speed.

More importantly, we are still using the servers at these 4 sites to ensure that the main continents where VPN services are in high demand are covered. But for the server in Hong Kong, we can say that the server speed is consistently excellent.

By default, HMA connects you to the fastest server available in the country of your choice. Don’t forget that you don’t necessarily have to use these servers that we sampled during this experiment. You can always scroll down the page to choose the server of your choice. That said, you will probably notice a slight decrease in speed when you connect to the HMA. This is not unique to this VPN, as others experience it as well.

However, what makes a VPN special is that the difference in speed between the steps before and after the connection is negligible. You should always keep this in mind. You can also perform the test yourself. By using this service, your speed may increase more than you expected.

In this case, it is your ISP that is strangling it. In addition to this, other factors can affect network speed, including source speed, user location, and computer processing speed. Here’s our verdict: HMA’s speed is inspiring, so we can give it a score of 9/10.

Customer Service of HideMyAss VPN

Customer Service

Customer service is crucial for a VPN service because it gives a human face to online service. To win the hearts of more subscribers, VPN providers must have friendly and well-trained customers. The most important thing is that they are able to explain how the service works to potential users and help existing users with certain technical tasks.

However, there is a challenge: Many of these providers claim to have customer-centric agents. But these claims seem to be nothing more than marketing gimmicks. Therefore, we use certain criteria to evaluate the effectiveness or not of the VPN customer service. Let’s look at them briefly.

  • 24/7 availability

This is one of the qualities that make the VPN unique. In other words, every VPN company has to work every day. The reason for this is that VPN users are scattered all over the world. In addition, each part of the world has a different time zone.

Since users have different time zones, the provider must be readily available to assist different users when they ask for help. Often, VPN providers offer real-time online interaction through their live chat service. Through this support system, you can share your technical problems or questions with them and get answers day after day.

  • Fast response to messages

It’s not enough to work around the clock, a good customer service team needs to respond to messages quickly. There have been instances where some VPN providers not only respond quickly to messages but also play a critical support role. For example, they help beginners set up their router software because these users lack the technical know-how to do so.

As a result, potential users continue to call on agents for technical assistance from time to time. A good VPN provider must have a helpdesk capable of providing solutions in the shortest possible time. This shows how knowledgeable and supportive the team is. And the users will certainly be happy to give them positive feedback.

  • Multiple communication channels

In addition, a good VPN provider must offer multiple communication channels through which users can access their service. The most common communication channels are e-mail, live chat, contact form, social media, etc. VPNs are increasingly adopting the telephone and Voice over IP. VPNs are increasingly adopting the telephone and voice over IP. Although telephone communication is still uncommon in the industry, it is a step in the right direction. Often, telephone communication is available during the business hours of the location where the VPN provider is based.

HideMyAss Customer Service

The table contains a breakdown of the benefits that HMA offers to its users. We put this British company to the test to make sure that they are not just marketing gimmicks. We started with their 24-hour live chat. So we contacted them via a live chat around 23:33 GMT to find out about their money-back guarantee policy. We received a response from their agent at 23:42 GMT.

He told us that HMA honors the policy within 30 days. In the discussion that followed, it was easy to deduce that the agent was very smart because he answered other questions intelligently. It is really commendable that this VPN has a refund provision. Given the disparity in response times, we must appreciate the fact that HMA has excellent customer service.

Subsequently, we tested other communication channels to evaluate their effectiveness or not. First of all, we tried its e-mail support. As always, the question we asked the team by email was during the free trial period. Keep in mind that we already knew the answer to the question before we asked it. But then we needed official confirmation from the team. We received feedback about 9 hours later, thanking us for contacting customer service.

In response to our question, the representative told us that the HMA free trial period lasts 7 days. Once again, the response time was not bad, and the email was accompanied by links to FAQs with answers to these questions. We must congratulate them for responding so quickly to our email. We should also point out that a 7-day free trial period is enough for a serious buyer to decide whether or not to subscribe to this VPN.

As we mentioned earlier, the HMA has a knowledge base where users can learn more about its services. Regarding the HMA VPN version 5 – FAQ, it summarizes almost everything you may want to know about the VPN. You will also find installation guides and how to perform some installations without assistance. There are links to articles that explain the main features in detail.

Although many critics have criticized its knowledge base in the past for its lack of information, you can always contact its representative for more information or submit a request ticket. We should not fail to mention that it has a community forum. Note that the HMA is available on social media. You can always get information from all these communication channels.

New features recently added include server ring test, automatic installation of dependencies, port selection, OpenVPN-UDP support, daemon mode, and more.

Linux distributions on which this application runs include CentOS, Debian, Fedora, Ubuntu, etc. You will need to choose from a list of VPN protocols, including OpenVPN (UDP and TCP), L2TP and PPTP. Not to mention that you will have access to unlimited bandwidth, high speed, many servers, etc.

  • macOS

As a macOS user, you can join the growing community of HMA users worldwide. Downloading and installing it is as easy as ABC. But then you need to have a computer running Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) or later to take advantage of the latter service.

You’re probably still using Mac OS X Snow Leopard, Leopard, Tiger, Panther, etc. If not, you will need to use the previous version, but not the current v2.2.2.7.0. We downloaded and installed the client just to get an idea of what it offers.

The fact is that you will appreciate everything that Windows operating system users do. It is interesting to note that HMA claims that most of the features it has incorporated into its application have been suggested by its clients (feedback). To log in, you need to log in with your contact information and click on the VPN Login tab.

In addition, to select a server of your choice, you will have to make a choice in the “Quick VPN Location Change” menu. In the drop-down list, you can choose between OpenVPN and PPTP. You can also change your IP address, schedule its change, check a new IP address, dragonize your service, etc.

  • Android

HMA also has an Android version for tablet and smartphone users. To get started, you need to visit the Google Play store from your mobile device. It allows you to unlock geoblocked sites, protect your online activities, contact support 24/7, and more. This VPN works on Android Pie, Oreo, Nougat, Marshmallow and Lollipop. You can seamlessly connect to a public Wi-Fi hotspot knowing you’re protected.

Updated in March 2020, the HMA client for Android has over one million downloads. This is a clear indication that many users are subscribing to this service to stay one step ahead of potential hackers and eavesdroppers. In order to get a clear picture of the client, we downloaded and tested it.

During installation and connection, you will easily notice that it is easy to use and browse. We advise you to use OpenVPN on UDP to get the best speed. You will also have access to features such as split tunneling, kill switch, etc.

  • iOS

If you have an iPad or iPhone, you can start using this VPN by visiting the Apple Store from any of these iDevices. It works on iOS devices with the following operating systems: iOS 9, 10, 11, and 12. Once you have downloaded and installed the application, you can log in to start browsing the Internet from a highly secure device.

You will be able to connect to any server in over 290 server locations worldwide. To get the best speed from this client, you must use IKEv2/IPsec. There is an intelligent algorithm that allows you to connect to the fastest server. You can go ahead and randomize your IP address every 10 minutes. With all these advantages, there is no doubt that you will get your money’s worth.

  • Router

You can configure your router to work on the HideMyAss network. You can then connect tons of other devices to the router. To get started, you need to access the router’s interface. HMA is compatible with a large number of routers. Remember that you must configure this VPN on your router in order to connect other devices.

In fact, HMA allows you to connect up to 5 different devices using the same connection settings. But just before you start, there are some routers that are compatible with this VPN. These include DD-WRT, OpenWRT, Tomato, etc. If you have any of these firmwares on your router, it means that the HMA will work perfectly with it.

By manually configuring your router, you can connect all your game consoles, such as Xbox and PlayStation. In addition, you can connect LG Smart TV, Western Digital Live TV, Google TV, Samsung TV, Apple TV, etc. All these devices are Internet of Things (IoT) devices that are not compatible with the VPN, but you can protect them with HMA by connecting to a VPN-compatible router.

Browser Extensions

chrome

Chrome

mozilla

Mozilla

As far as browser extensions are concerned, HMA has browser extensions for Chrome and Firefox. Although the application does not have an ad blocker, these plugins come with an ad blocker. With these ad blockers, you will prevent all the annoying ads from appearing from time to time.

Browser extensions allow you to extend your online security to your browser. To install it, you can open the user interface by clicking on the HMA for Chrome and Firefox on its website. Note that during installation, the plugin will check if it already exists and will ask you to uninstall it. This is simply due to the fact that two extensions cannot work on a browser at that time.

However, if the application is running on your device, you will not need an HMA browser extension because the client protects your device every time you visit the Internet. But the browser extension is not enough, as it only protects your online activities, which means that applications that independently access the Internet will be exposed.

When you install the extension and the application together, you benefit from additional features such as tab killer, WebRTC blocker, etc. Overall, the browser extensions for Chrome and Firefox allow you to take advantage of online data encryption, have a hidden IP address, access geoblocked sites, have top-notch Wi-Fi security, keep prying eyes confused all the time, block malicious websites, etc.

Torrenting with HideMyAss VPN

Torrenting consists of downloading files from peer-to-peer (P2P) via the BitTorrent protocol. Since it became popular, people have been turning to torrent to take advantage of its exceptional security and ability to handle large files.

In some cases, these users download and share copyrighted files such as music, movies, TV series, software and other materials without the consent of their rightful owners. This practice does not comply with many international copyright laws. Yes, the HMA supports torrenting. So you can access a torrent site by getting a dedicated torrent profile with countless torrent-optimized servers.

With a large number of fully torrent optimized servers, you can access any of these servers without restriction. Given its good speed, you will enjoy the torrent with HMA. When you break the torrent laws in your country, HMA will send you warning laws because it keeps your logs.

Of course, it is easy for them to see the files you download. If you want to practice torrenting without the VPN provider knowing exactly what you are doing online, you may want to consider using another VPN provider. This is simply because the HMA does not tolerate illegal activity online.

Netflix Access with HideMyAss VPN

When we read that the HMA was able to unlock Netflix, we thought it was one of its marketing gadgets. Well, we put the VPN to the test to find out the truth. We’re happy to report that this is very true. So, if you’re looking to circumvent Netflix firewalls, you can always do so with HideMyAss. You probably know that you can’t access the library of the American streaming giant if you’re not based in the United States.

Given its impressive speed, you can be sure to enjoy high definition movies without buffering. So you can use the HMA to bypass Netflix’s firewall and get access to its all-important American library. You can use the HMA servers in New York and Florida to access the US streaming site.

In addition to streaming Netflix, you can also unlock the BBC iPlayer through this VPN. There are other amazing streaming sites that you can easily unlock using the HMA.

HideMyAss VPN Cons

So far, we have discussed the main features of this VPN. At this point, we need to look at the drawbacks of HMA:

  • No malware blocker

One of the ways VPNs protect their users is to incorporate anti-malware so they are not exposed to malware attacks. Unfortunately, the HMA does not yet have this feature in its application.

  • Privacy policy

The HMA’s registration policy is far from being the best, as it collects user logs. In addition, this VPN is not known to have given the FBI information that led to the arrest, prosecution and imprisonment of any of its users. Finally, it is based in the United Kingdom, which is a member of the 5-Eyes Alliance. All of these factors act collectively against this VPN.

  • Poor server network

While most high-end VPN providers have between 3,000 and 5,000 servers worldwide, HMA is still struggling with just over 1,000 servers. By all criteria, this server network is very poor. Although the relatively small number of HMA’s server networks does not affect its speed, more servers always mean better performance.

Conclusion

At this point, we have to draw the curtain. The truth is that this HideMyAss VPN review has been a long read because we have done extensive testing and research on this VPN. Without a doubt, the most important thing is to give you all the details you need to make an informed decision. That being said, we have to admit that the HMA has many breathtaking features.

From speed to security, from unlockability to torrent support, from good customer service to connect multiple devices, this UK-based VPN provider has many amazing features. From a VPN that started as a simple experiment, the HMA has become one of the most sought after VPNs worldwide. The biggest challenge for this VPN is its track record. In fact, no one can easily wish for it because the Internet never forgets.

So, do we recommend it? Yes, but under certain conditions! You see, you should never opt for this VPN if you don’t want prying eyes poking around what you do online. That’s simply because this VPN has been known to share users’ personal information with law enforcement officers – thanks to its location. However, if you don’t have cockroaches in your closet, HMA offers an amazing way to start your VPN odyssey.

You can use its trial period to see how it works. Yes, 7 days is enough. If you’re not impressed, you’ll leave. Besides security, one of the best things you’ll appreciate about HMA is its speed. It’s a tool that pushes the limits! Again, there is virtually nothing you can do online without good speed. So order now!
