VPN speed is another factor to consider in your ideal VPN. The fact is that it takes speed to do almost anything online. That’s why we perform the speed test using 4 different NordVPN server locations to get an idea of its speed. We have compiled our results for you to see, and the explanations are detailed below.

As always, we ran the speed test with the New York server. The server performed very well, with a download speed of 56 Mbps and an upload speed of 29 Mbps. In truth, these results are very good because you need excellent speed to do a lot of things online. Any high-level VPN must have high speed.  

The next stop was Amsterdam, a city in Europe. We did the same test on the Amsterdam server, leaving the parameters constant. To our surprise, the Amsterdam server experienced a drastic drop in speed with a download speed of 31.5 Mbps. Its upload speed, on the other hand, was even worse, stabilizing at 6.23 Mbps. In fact, these results are a significant deviation from our previous speed test on the Amsterdam servers.  

Later, we switched to the London server. This was to give us an idea of what it feels like to access the Internet from another European city via NordVPN. We saw a massive improvement in speeds. As you can see from the table, we’ve seen 74 Mbps and 48 Mbps in download and upload speeds respectively. There is no doubt that the speeds are the best we have seen so far.

Finally, we tested the server in Hong Kong. According to our previous results, the Chinese city still has a very poor speed performance. As always, we were right about the server in Hong Kong, as the download speed was 12 Mbps downstream and the upload speed was stable at 5 Mbps upstream. For some reason, Hong Kong servers don’t always have amazing speeds. And obviously it has the lowest server speed of the 3 servers we used for the test.

Here are some of the points to remember from this test. Based on our results, we can state categorically that NordVPN has above-average speed. Indeed, the London server has the best overall result in terms of speed. On the other hand, the Hong Kong server is at the bottom of the scale, which has become the norm when we perform speed tests on the city’s servers. 

In addition, we were disappointed with the Amsterdam server because of its low speed. Looking at the average speed of the 4 cities we sampled, the average download speed was 43.38 Mbps while the average upload speed was 22.06 Mbps.

Based on these calculations, it is clear that the speed of NordVPN is above-average. With the download and upload speeds, you will certainly enjoy downloading, streaming, sending, video and voice calls, etc. Moreover, we can say that NordVPN is among the best speed tests we have ever done.
